The Challenge
As operators of 6 leading brands with more than 1000 stores across multiple regions, Varner encountered several challenges:
1. Lack of Control Over Listings
Many listing profiles were either unclaimed or incomplete, leading to significant inaccuracies in operational data—such as hours, addresses, and contact details—across platforms like Google Maps, Apple Maps, Bing and other search networks.
Google’s request for video verification during the profile claiming process posed additional complications. With hundreds of stores spread across Sweden, Finland, and Norway, completing video verification for each profile was resource-intensive and impractical for a multi-brand retailer like Varner Group.
2. Missed Opportunities in Local Search and Ads
Petter Sørby, Product Manager | Varner ASOne key driver for us was to strengthen our local inventory ads. Getting control over our location data and ensuring correct information across platforms has been a major factor in improving the quality and performance of our ads.
By improving the consistency of their listings, Varner saw a great potential in optimizing ad spend and enhance ROI on paid campaigns. Holistic optimization of their local search presence will boost brand awareness and increase foot traffic across all stores.
3. Inconsistent and Messy Data
We strive for omnichannel success. We want our digital presence and physical store experience to be the same. PinMeTo played a big role in helping us achieve that consistency.

Duplicate listings, incorrect store names, and outdated operational info created significant inconsistencies across platforms.
Managing business information like opening hours—essential for attracting customers during campaigns—proved difficult to synchronize across locations.
