Google Business Profile appeals add evidence uploads
- Local SEO
Google has reworked how businesses appeal a suspended or restricted Business Profile, folding evidence uploads into the appeal itself and surfacing the bulk reinstatement path for 10+ locations at the start of the flow. The change, documented in Google Business Profile Help, turns a fiddly two-step process into a single submission and matters most for the brands that appeal listings at volume.
What happened
Previously, submitting an appeal and attaching supporting documents were separate steps, with a short window to add files through a different form after the appeal itself. According to Google Business Profile Help, evidence is now attached during the appeal: after you submit, you select Add evidence and upload the files that support your case. The tight deadline remains, so preparation still matters. Google also moved the question about bulk reinstatement for more than ten profiles to the beginning of the appeal rather than the end, and for a bulk case it asks you to attach a spreadsheet listing the evidence and Business Profile ID for each location.
Why it matters
Profile suspensions are a recurring operational risk, not a rare event, and every hour a listing stays down is lost visibility and lost traffic. A cleaner, single-pass appeal reduces the chance that a valid reinstatement fails on a technicality like a missed upload window. Putting the bulk question first also signals that Google expects multi-location operators to use the appeal system differently from a single owner, which is a useful acknowledgement for teams that manage suspensions across a large estate.
What this means for multi-location brands
“Once you open the evidence form, you must submit it within 60 minutes or it won’t be attached to your appeal.”
Google Business Profile Help
That 60-minute rule is the operational catch at scale: a central team cannot start an appeal and then go hunting for registration documents location by location. The answer is to hold verification evidence, business registration, licences, and utility records, ready in a structured store keyed to each location before anything is filed. Keep that data and every Business Profile ID in a single local business listing record so a bulk spreadsheet is an export, not a research project. The appeal itself still goes through Google’s appeals tool, so what scales is the preparation around it: keep location data accurate and every Business Profile ID synced through the API suite rather than editing profiles by hand, and run listings management and monitoring centrally from one Google Business Profile manager so evidence is ready and issues surface before they turn into suspensions.
The bottom line
The new appeal flow is a small workflow change with an outsized payoff for brands that handle suspensions in bulk. The teams that win are the ones with location data and evidence already organised, so an appeal is a quick submission and not a fire drill across markets.
